(VIDEO) BMW 330e, the first plug-in hybrid 3 Series arrives in 2016

After series hybrid sedans on the ActiveHybrid 3 Series, 5 and 7, next year, BMW goes to the next level with plug-in hybrids, the 330e!

The first informations (preliminary) on this car show a combined output of 250hp and torque of 420nm with a 0 to 100kph in just over 6 seconds and a top speed of 225kph for an all electric range of 35km.

The battery is placed under the rear seats and according to the video it seems that it has a rear electric motor - making this 330e a 4 wheel drive.

The availability and price will be announced later in the year but the 3 Series ActiveHybrid, already available on the catalog is available from € 55,000. By definition equipped with a larger battery, the 330e will be placed approximately € 5,000+ but will have a bigger bonus, the ActiveHybrid 3 emits 139g / km and the 330e should be below 50g / km!

For the record, this is not the first plug-in hybrid of the group since the X5 xDrive 40e is already marketed since this year.
