(VIDEO) OneWheel electric skateboard: the closest you can get to the overboard in 2014


Here is another project that seeks to raise funds on kickstarter, as its name suggests the Onewheel has only one wheel but oversized 6.5 by 11.5 inches - placed in the center of a skateboard.


It is powered by a hub motor, while the battery and controllers are located in the board.

Personal transportation device, the Onewheel moves with bodyweight using gyroscopes and accelerometers, it has been invented by Kyle Doerksen in Palo Alto, California who wanted to create a fun electric vehicle.

The vehicles shown are only prototypes at the moment but it is already the third generation of Onewheel reaching 20kph for a weight of 11kg.


On kickstarter the company offers goodies but also the first units of Onewheel allowing us to get an idea of its retail price if the project is funded!
The listed price of this Onewheel electric skateboard is $ 1299 then comes possibilities of customization and options, range varies from 6 to 9km from the 48V LiFePO4 battery – optional quick charger reduces charging time from one hour to 20 minutes.

The first deliveries are expected in early September.
