Having sold the 2013 production of the Volvo V60 Plug-in even before the car reached showrooms and the 1000 units planned, for the year 2014, Volvo will increase production to a volume between 4000 and 6000.
The assembly of the first diesel plug-in hybrid is made in Gothenburg, Sweden on the same production line as other models of the brand
“We are first in the industry to integrate a plug-in hybrid in an established production flow together with other car models,” says Peter Mertens, Senior Vice President Research and Development at Volvo Car Corporation.
Compared to a conventional V60, the two powertrains of the V60 Plug-in add over 300 new parts to the process.
For the record, the 11.2kWh battery of the V60 Plug-in provides up to 50km of range in electric only and offers 285hp and 640nm of torque for emissions of only 49g/km.
