The plug-in hybrid powertrain (e-hybrid) presented by Porsche in their Sport Turismo concept could soon be fitted to the Cayenne.
Indeed, according to recent rumors, a Cayenne e-hybrid is on the agenda to offer a better efficiency than the current Cayenne hybrid.
To recall the Porsche Sport Turismo is a "shooting brake" version of the Panamera that has been unveiled at the Paris Motor Show last September.
This design concept was also used as technology demonstrator with a new plug-in hybrid powertrain.
The arrival of this engine is planned for 2014 in the Cayenne, along with a (small) design update of Porsche’s SUV.
About the specs of the Cayenne e-hybrid for now we have to rely on the Sport Turismo specs-sheet that combines the 333hp V6 engine and a 95hp electric motor for a total output of 416hp.
However, since its weight is likely to be more important, fuel consumption and emissions should be increased (82g/km and 3.5l per 100km in the Sport Turismo), ditto for the range in electric only, the 9.4kWh battery should provide a little less than 30km.
