Already known for its technology SKYACTIV which increases the efficiency of engines, Mazda was rather quiet on electric vehicles development so far, but the brand has just revealed 25 electric Mazda2 prototypes with Lithium Ion batteries that allow up 200km of range!
This electric Mazda2 (Demio EV) is only 100kg heavier than the petrol version, recharging takes about 7 to 8hours.
At the moment no information has been revealed on the engine performance and battery capacity that would have allowed to assess whether the announced range is optimistic or realistic...
The release in Japan is scheduled for spring 2012.
