In 2012, Audi’s next hybrid sedan will be the Audi A6.
It combines a 2.0TFSI gasoline engine and an electric motor, for a total combined output of 245hp and 480Nm.
This power is not obtained from a V6 but a turbocharged 4-cylinder with direct injection. In terms of consumption, Audi announces 6.4 l/100km, and the ability to drive in all-electric mode up to 100kph for about 3km thanks to a 1.3kWh Lithium Ion battery pack weighting 36 kg. Its 73 liter tank allows a range of over 1100km.
As for performance, the 1770kg car achieves a top speed of 238kph and 0 to 100kph takes 7.3 seconds for emissions of just 146g/km!
The driver can choose between three driving mode, the EV mode gives priority to the electric motor, the D mode combines the two engines for maximum efficiency and finally the S mode for a sport performances.
The electric motor can also recover energy during light braking, electric brakes stop the car while for normal and hard braking the hydraulic brake system instantly takes over.
The Audi A6 hybrid will be available early next year at a price estimated around € 56,000.
